Join textile artist Debbie Barrett-Jones and creator of Healing with Weaving, in this Woven Together; Workshop and Community Art Project as she teaches you to weave on a small portable loom and connect, finding the healing, therapeutic and meditative benefits through the wonders of weaving together. This hands-on community workshop will allow you to take time for yourself and connect with others as you slow down in life, taking time for self-care while doing something creative with your hands, focusing on material, color, and pattern, one thread at a time. Weaving can help with anxiety, stress, grief, and loss, which enables you to become a healthier and more grateful human being to yourself and others. Taking this time to come together, and sharing life stories that allow human connections to see that you are not alone, gives you a renewed strength to know that we are woven together in this life.

This guided Woven Together Workshop will include a Healing with Weaving Frame Loom Kit and accessories. You will learn how to weave with it and be invited to participate in a Woven Together Community Art Project using your first weaving project as a collaborative large weaving installation that will be exhibited at Leedy-Voulkos Art Center in their Main Gallery during Debbie Barrett-Jones and her sister, Kristine Barrett’s joint Thesis Exhibition, Lineage, March-May 2023. Your small weaving will be connected by one another to see, on a larger scale, how beautiful it is to see how we are all connected to each other and the landscape.  This installation will continue to grow and be installed in new locations, giving all participants credit.

Each participant will be given a small frame loom with yarn supplies to weave their next piece.
